A Course in Miracles Experiment (by Pam Grout) Day 22

No-one gets to be critical of our kids.  Especially when they’re small.

They’re kids, right?  They make mistakes, they do silly stuff, stupid things sometimes, but they’re OUR kids.

And NO-ONE else gets to criticize.  We, the parents, jump in and with love and humor help them out of whatever ridiculous situation they’ve gotten themselves into, and try to help them learn from it.

But we are SO critical of ourselves!  Listen to that snarky voice for a few minutes, and you’ll realize just how un-loving and un-helpful that voice is.

We continually hear that voice in our heads that’s telling us “You’re not smart enough.  You’re not pretty enough.  You’re not good enough. Blah, blah, blah.”

 But it’s bullsh*t.

That voice is NOT the voice of a loving and compassionate universe.

That voice has no more reality and substance than what we allow.

I’d NEVER speak to ANYONE in that tone of voice, or say those things to my child!  So, why do I allow that voice to speak to me that way?

Beating ourselves up all day does NOT change anything, other than making us feel worse.

Be to yourself, today, that loving and compassionate parent who’s there for you, looking out for you, helping you learn and grow.

Remind yourself, 5 times today, look around and remind yourself that what you fear is not real.

And go on to enjoy this day!
