A Course in Miracles Experiment (by Pam Grout) Day 118

Be creative today.

Take 10 minutes and draw.  Or paint.  Or rearrange your furniture.  Or cook something new.  Or even just daydream.  But do something!

Your creativity is a gift, and if you give it some space and a bit of time, it will reward you in ways you cannot imagine.

When you give yourself permission to create, you take the blinders off and look at the world around you differently.  When you allow your brain some time to just play, it’ll surprise you with what it digs up for your inspection and approval.

Elizabeth Gilbert (in “Big Magic”) tells us that “the essential ingredients for creativity are courage, enchantment, permission, persistence, and trust.”

No matter who you are, where you are, or what your circumstances may be, if you let those elements have room in your heart and your mind, your “reality” will begin to shift.  You’ll start having ideas, and accomplishing things, that are entirely new and truly amazing.

By opening yourself up to those new concepts, you drive a wedge into the wall of preconceptions that surrounds you.  The more you whack on the wedge, the bigger the crack in the wall, until the inspiration trickling through that crack becomes a flood.

That flood will change your mind just like a flood of water will wash away every bit of debris on a creekbank – taking all the accumulated trash downstream.

When all the gunk is washed away, you will still be there.  Your surroundings may be unrecognizable, but you’ll still be standing. Your head may feel a bit lighter than usual.  Your vision may seem a bit wonky for a while.  But you’ll be fine!

Let the Universe bless you today.  With creativity, with love, with joy and peace.

Allow these things room in your head.  Boot out the old useless crap that’s got you stuck in a rut.  Celebrate!

And have a marvelous day today!
